Finally he agreed to step down. Recently, he said publicly, that he will end his 31 years presidency in January 2011.
He was the longest serving minister in the cabinet (since Husein Onn till Pak Lah). He agrred to hand over the duty to his current deputy, Senator Datuk G.Palanivel.
He also agreed not to be adviser upon stepping down. Of course, who wants to listen to him after eating our money for decades.
But there's still a question mark. He didn't state when is the date that he is going to step down.
He is not stepping down as advisor of MAIKA holdings and his son is still the CEO.
Since he is prominent politicion, there's still a possibility that he could retract his statement. Let's wait and see.
