Will Chong Wei deliver a Merdeka Gift ?
We have been waiting for so long to find a world champion in badminton. That dream would be resolved today when Lee Chong Wei meets Chen Long from China to determine the world championship title. This is the 3rd finals for Lee.
Though, people said there was no lin dan, so it's easy for him, but im sure, Chen Long is also eyeing for the glory as he needs to sustain his position in Chinese team for Asian Games
It will be a perfect Merdeka Day gift for Malaysia, if Lee could nail the game. Let's wait and see.

Malaysia Airlines to be killed and be given rebirth
Khazanah Nasional has given 12 point plans for the national carrier to have new image and come out from red.
First of all, the current company, MAS will be delisted in December 2014.
2. New company will be formed and expected listing will be b December 2017
3. RM6 billion has been estimated to revive the airlines
4. 30% or 6,000 staffs will be given Voluntary retirement scheme or layed off.
5. New management will be introduced in 2015. Ahmad Jauhari will be the CEO will June 2015
6. The middle management will be strengthen
7. The airlines to become a premium airlines (similar to ethihad and emirates)
8. Cost efficient measures to be introduced
many more.
I just feel, this measures could have been taken way before, rather than doing it now. Especially, on number of staff, should have been given more focus, to ensure the staff are doing their job right and whether the task need the right number of staff strength.
In addition, We are challenged by Air Asia and Malindo and sometimes, Tiger and Cebu for low cost flights. But MAS focus should be to challenge Emirates, Qatar and SIA.
For employees, I'm sure, some or many looking for MSS or VSS. It would be a good return for short term, especially, those whom are reaching towards retirement age.
Nevertheless, for staff whom are going to continue to work under restructuring process, it will be a good learning point which will become their selling point.
I hope the curse to the airlines will end this year.

Chatime Jalan Ipoh
It's my normal place to by the beverage there. Today, there was extraordinary crowd due to a group of school students. Thus, I had to wait like 15 minutes.
I was fine with waiting time. But the agony started after that. Normally, they will call the number or type it into the Que management system. Today, they didn't do that. So after 15 minutes, I went to the counter straight and waited there. I had strong suspect that they were serving the customers after me. It was true as my number was 23 and they served number 24.
Suddenly the waitress girl with speck asked me, "Can I have your receipt". I replied, I'm waiting here long". She just gave me the drink and say Thank you with harsh manner.
I just don't understand, I'm not buying the drink for free or I'm begging for your drink. Why cant you be more polite.
Next, can't you apologize for your mistake done. I know you are in your early 20s, but why are you so bloody egoistic or Kiasu.
Now it makes me to think twice before buying drink from that shop if this kind of service being provided, or maybe it's fine for youngsters aged below 25 years for such situation but if this were to continue, the civil sense among Klang valley people is just deteriorating.

Analysis of Malaysian Athletes at Glasgow 2014
It took me sometime to do this analysis as I needed time to digest the poor performance of the National contingent. My previous commonwealth games analysis:
http://forzameyya.blogspot.com/2010/10/analysis-of-malaysian-athletes-at-delhi.html
Athletics
Though the powerhouse like Jamaica, Kenya, England and Australia were no match to Malaysia, the expectation was aleast to create national records. With small team of 5 members ( 4 Field and 1 track), we could only be the back benchers on all the event by finishing last or 2nc last in the qualifiying. Something seriously need to be done, else, we will be not even on world map for athletics.
Verdict : Below expectation
Badminton
This sports always been our gold mine. We expected 3 golds and other of various colors. But we ended with only 3 gold medals. The mos disappointing moment, when we never had a men singles representative for 1st time since 1990. It was healed by surprise gold medal from women doubles whom beat the Singaporeans and Indians to en route for the success. As expected the other gold medal was delivered by mixed team and men doubles. We could have added more bronze through women singles, doubles and mixed doubles but due to poor time arrangement where semifinals and 3rd placing was scheduled on the same day and our player, Tan Pei Jing had to play 4 matches on same day.
We cant rest our laurels as team like Singapore and India is narrowing the gap. So, we need to get back our name as powerhouse.
Verdict : Meet expectation
Boxing
We had 5 representative, but no medals were shown. We continued our empty hand return. The least we could go was quarterfinals. Next Sapok Biki is still waiting.
Verdict :Below expectation
Cycling
As usual Nurul Fateha, Azizul and Josiah was leading the contingent to deliver gold but we only ended with bronze. Worse case, the road race finished empty handed. Thus there were no gold medal show from them.
Verdict :Below expectation
Weightlifting
They delivered 1 gold medal and 1 silver. It's what expected from them and they made it. Poorly, no shows from our ladies.
Verdict : Meet expectation
Lawn Bowl
This was really a overrated team. When we were expecting 2 gold medals, they only could contribute 2 silver medals. Last round was also the same overconfidence and it repeated. The team was comprised of seasoned players, yet they failed to deliver.
Verdict :Below expectation
Diving
All attention was on Pandelela Rinong, but she could only dive for a silver. Final minute switch of pairs, made blunder when both the ladies pair fail to deliver gold lining. Surprise gold medal came from Sze Liang. Compared to previous games, now we went in as favorites. But no gold splash from ladies.
Verdict :Below expectation
Swimming
We didn't expect medals from them, but some national records, but even that was not meet. We cant be using the same reason as going for exposure, else we would be just sinking into the pool again.
Verdict :Below expectation
Hockey
We didn't expect a medal from them, but at least top 6 would have been better. But they went and lost to minnows T&T. Finally finished at 7th. For ladies, 7th is good enough but definitely not for men. We cant be performing like school boys and being a laughing matter.
Verdict :Below expectation
Squash
When Nicol was expected to deliver gold medal, we expected another from doubles, but we just could not communicate each other. dark horses, India, grabbed the ladies gold medal. 4 years from now, we cant expect Nicol's service. We need Wee Wern or delia to deliver. Are they ready for it?
Verdict :Below expectation
Shooting
Another overrated team. They fired blank when they were expected to deliver 2 gold medals. Half of the team was in the previous Commonwealth Games squad. Some of them are in forces and military yet, they cant shoot accurately. How are they going to catch the thieves?
Verdict :Below expectation
Artistic Gymnastics
Farah Ann Abd Hadi was in previous team, yet she and her team could not land at proper place. The team finished empty handed.
Verdict :Below expectation
Rhythmic Gymnastics
1 silver and 2 bronze was the only medals to be delivered by our angels. The team was relatively new to the arena, yet they gave a tough fight to Canada, Australia and England.
Verdict :Meet expectation
Table Tennis
Singapore always the hurdle with their imported players. But our ladies still manage to enter finals for team event. We could only rely on old lady Lee Wei to drive the team.
Verdict :Meet expectation
Rugby
Same story as last games, we finished bottom rock. I feel these players are just going to finish rock bottom forever.
Verdict :Below expectation
Overall:
Target - 7 Gold medals
Achieved - 6 Gold medals
Verdict: Below Expectations
I don't know what else to write, as we performed badly this round. Of course Singapore finished ahead of us with help of forein players. But, we cant use that reason anymore. We just fail to deliver in certain sports i.e shooting, lawn bowl, cycling, diving etc.
Furthermore, some of these athletes were already known that they wont deliver results but we still send them. It looks like they went for holidays. We could be not strong as Australia, Canada, England or New Zealand. But at least we could do our level best in the sports that we are known for.
It's the same Nigeria and Kenya did and they finished above Malaysia. If war torn and poverty countries can perform at this level, why not Malaysia?
Hope, Gold coast trip would not be another holiday trip.

Lee Chong Wei's final chance
The world championship badminton has started. I can still recall last year's finals when Datuk Lee Chong Wei pulled out in 3rd set due to injury and Lin Dan had the sportsmanship to help Datuk Lee.
Malaysia has never won the title. Datuk Lee has been expected to win it this year. Not because, he is prepared or fit for the match but mere reason of absence of Lin Dan.
As player, you should be ready to face anyone on the court or battlefield. In addition, Datuk Lee has lost to Simon Santoso and Chen Long this year. Thus, they are also threat to him. Not forgotten P.Kasyap who won the Commonwealth Games who is pumped to be world beater.
If we say Datuk Lee can win only with absence of Lin Dan , then Lin Dan is still the best player in the world, regardless of the ranking.

Arul in, Koshy out
Former Olympian and world cup player, Arul Selvaraj has been appointed as temporary coach assisted by Tan Beng Hai. After poor performance in World Cup and Commonwealth Games, dhanraj abdullah has been shown the exit door.
Arul whom was former assitant to Paul Revington when Paul coach Malaysia and also Canada national team.
To make it worse, George Koshy has been removed as national team hockey manager, thus healso resigned as KLHA President.
Initially our aim was to win gold medal in Asian Games and qualify for Olympics, but now Tengku Abdullah has given mandate to come back with medal pf any color (which means bronze at least). Since Tengku Abdullah came into the picture, things got really worse.
I would suggest, former national players to run the show.

NM Galaxy Run Part 3
This is my 1st run after Raya Break. I wanted to take it easy, so I wear my speck and run. Initially my plan was to run with my rudy project but they started at 5am. As the race started on time, I started from the 4th row, so wasnt much hasle to move to leading group.
After 2km, I went for a pit stop break for 20 seconds. Thereafter I continued and overtook whomever overtook me during the break. The pace was fast during the 1st 5km, therefatre the group broke and the gaps widened.
There was a U turn as we could see the leading runner at the beginning, but therafter it was blocked by divider, thus there wasnt much mental block for me.
Every 3km was water station and I just grabbed it rather than stopping there. There was a distance marker at 9km and 15km. Thus, I didnt know at which stage I was. To make it worse, last 3km was crowded with 5km and 10km runners. Therefore, I had to run faster to avoid them to jam up the route.
The initial 10km was flat with slight hills, but last 6km has hilly routes which separated the front runners. The guy in fron of me was atleast 300M and guy behind me was 50M. When I saw the junction to Bkt Jalil, I knew it was just last 500M, so I spinted till finishing.
I knew I was in top50, but when I the official results, I was supprised being in top14.
After the race, there was no breakfast. Only banana, malta, milo and water. Perhaps more stuff for the 4th series.
Selangor CM Saga
Selangor state was always a stronghold of Barisan and it became a shock when it went to opposition in 2008. BN tried to bribe the people by giving and promising all type of goodies but people still voted for Pakatan in 2013. Tan Sri Dr Khalid Ibrahim was the man of choice by Anwar Ibrahim.
Khalid Ibrahim is the guy with IQ but lacks EQ. He is good thinker and strategist but without much people skills, whereas Anwar has super EQ. Now, because Anwar nwants his wife to be MB, he asked Khalid to step down but of course Khalid wont let go. So Anwar sacked Khalid from the party.
Now Khalid is independent MB with support from PAS. Some say he may join PAS, else, he will set up a new party like Zaid Ibrahim. To make things worse, he even sacked 6 state exco whom are from DAP and PKR. This leaves with 4 exco from PAS plus him,, which is the minimum requirement.
The two PKR exco members are Dr Daroyah Alwi and Elizabeth Wong while DAP representatives are Datuk Teng Chang Khim, V. Ganabatirau and Ean Yong. he was yet to request for the sacking of welfare and women's issues exco Rodziah Ismail because she was not in the country.
The sacking of exco has been endorsed by Sultan of Selangor. Now Wan Azizah is saying that she has support of 30 ADUN which is the majority to remove Khalid.
MB can only be removed when the state parliament votes him out with no confidence and has to be endorsed by the Sultan. But both things didn't happen.
From my opinion, BN wanted to take over the state, so one way is to stir up the opposition team and let them to fight. In addition, the state has so much fund. Anwar wants to use the fund to take over the government in next election. Moreover, we never had lady MB. So Wan Azizah can the record breaker.

Final 2 gold medal to cool down
Malaysia grabed their final 2 gold medal from much anticipated badminton through men doubles and women doubles.
With this Malaysia ended the campaign with 6 gold 7 silver and 6 bronze. Tnhis is definetely lower than 4 years ago of 12 gold medals (6 less).
We even finished behind Singapore, Nigeria, Jamaica, Kenya and South Africa. Probably this is one of the poor performance since 1994 Games.
India emerged as best Asian country with 15 gold medals. They even had historic badminton men singles gold medal through P.Kashyap. Even Canada also scored their 1st gold medal in badminton through Michelle Li (She never contested outside of American continent and today she could beat players from Asia and Europe).
As the Asian Games is just 50 days away, the Sports council need to really plan something. Else, Rio and Gold Coast trip will be just a holiday trip in coming year.

Mandela Best words/quotes
It has been half a year since the passing of Nelson
Mandela, the revolutionary leader who was the driving force for the
turnaround of South Africa’s fate, and the abolishment of apartheid.
Having been thrown into jail for 27-years during his journey, Mandela endured gruelling physical labour duties that cost him his eyesight, and other physical and mental torments that one could only try and imagine.
Yet, Mandela emerged from all those barriers, still fighting for his cause, and successfully abolishing apartheid and racial segregations in his country. Later, he was made President of his homeland for five years, and moved on to philanthropy and helping victims of HIV/AIDS in his later years.
With all those life experiences under his belt, it is easy to see why many would consider Mandela one of the wisest men who have ever lived.
And so today, in conjunction with Nelson Mandela Day, we highlight five of his famous leadership quotes, and how it can be applied at your workplace.
“It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.”
A leader who takes the backseat somehow exudes the vibe of wisdom. Why is that so?
It’s simple, really. A person who leads from behind displays their lack of need for recognition, and their pure focus toward their team goals.
They inspire and empower each member of their team to pursue their shared goal, to push their potential, and yet, are still shouldering the responsibility should anything go wrong.
To the team, they are their leader and protector.
Having said that, taking this backseat may be a highly effective way to lead, but it is not for everyone. Some situations require leaders to play a more active role than others.Make sure you assess your situation to determine the right kind of leadership style needed for your team.
“There are times when a leader must move out ahead of the flock, go off in a new direction, confident that he is leading his people the right way.”
This means, even backseat leaders would have to come out to actively point their team to a direction.
When this happens, there is no time for your confidence to waiver, or to indulge in any self-doubting. Your team is looking to you for direction, and even as you falter, stay positive and fake your confidence till you make it. And you will eventually make it - just keep persisting on your intuition, and go with the flow.
“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”
Everybody has one common fear – the fear of failure (also, cockroaches). Many of us refuse to live up to our potentials, as we are afraid of failing, and afraid of what others would think of us should we fail.
And so, we live our lives convincing ourselves that success is not meant for us, and that we are not that great to begin with.
Failing does not make you a failure. Refusing to try, makes you one.
It is those who have overcome this fear of failure that would thrive in life. However you define your success, stepping out of your comfort zone might seem scary at first, but whether you make it or break it, remember that the most important point is that you tried.
That’s more than many others(especially those who judge you) can say for themselves.
“People respond in accordance to how you relate to them. If you approach them on the basis of violence, that's how they'll react. But if you say, 'We want peace, we want stability,' we can then do a lot of things that will contribute towards the progress of our society.”
When you approach a problem with the intention of illustrating your point of view, you will be getting the same reaction from your counterpart, thus leading to an argument instead of a solution.
As Mandela puts it, stating your objectives up front gives the other party something to work towards. So, instead of a he-said-she-said situation, you’ve now gotten yourselves a common objective to productively work towards, all defensiveness abandoned.
"There are so many men and women who hold no distinctive positions but whose contribution towards the development of society has been enormous."
You don’t have to be an official leader to be able to lead.
Mandela himself was President of South Africa for only five years. Yet his influence and leadership lasted way longer than that, proving that leadership is not defined by titles.
Many people play meaningful inspiring roles in others’ lives, and yet don’t receive recognition and praise as they are not official leaders.
So what, if the person quietly encouraging a greener lifestyle in the office is only just a fresh graduate? So what, if the person who keeps you safe by accompanying you to your car makes less money than you?
As Mandela puts it, they may not hold any position, but that doesn’t make their contributions any less deserving of our respect.

7 Gold target looks unachievable
The shooter fired blank and only had 1 bronze. Cycling to made disastrous outing by winning 1 bronze. Lawn Bowl ended their campaign with 1 silver and 1 bronze. This sports promised gold medal but did not achieved it.
Sports like Athletics, Swimming, Gymnastic (Artistic), Rugby, Hockey and Boxing finished empty handed.
In diving, very much anticipated gold was dashed when final minute of switch made the disaster. Usual combination of Pandelela and mun yee was twisted, ended up pandalela paring with rookie Dabitah and scored surprise bronze.
Hopes on squash double also went on smoke when Nicol-wee wern pair trashed in quarterfinals.
With 3 more days to go, our hopes are on badminton (at least 2 gold) and Diving (1more gold).
Currently we have 4 gold medals, 6 silver and 5 bronze. But it's not something which we can be proud of, as Singapore is above us. Minor countries like Grenada, Kribati and Papua New Genue has scored their mainden gold medals.
our best hauld was in Dehli with 12 golds. It's definetley cant be achieved now. Not even 10 golds.
OCM need to work out plan for asian games, else we will become a mid tier country in sports.

Men Hockey became school boys
We may have made a good start by beating Canada 2-0, but thereafter the disaster started when we lost to England by 8-1 (first half was 1-1), then loosing to tiny Trinidad and Tobago by 4-2 and trashing by New Zealand by 6-1.
Our men hockey team suppose to go for top 6 but now, looks like we will be ending up as last bench as we did during world cup. With this team, you can just forget about achieving gold medal in Asian Games.
The newspapers states, Dharmaraj should be sacked as he is the main reason. That could be just one reason as the motivation of the team is down and he may not be fit to lead a senior team.
But the next reason is, whether we made the right selection of team without the intervention of royal families and politicians.
